- Exopathogenic wind-cold: Aversion to cold, headache and general pain. As in Notopterygium Decoction of Nine Ingredients.
- Wind-cold-dampness: Arthralgia with pains in the limbs and joints, upper parts of the body. As in Dampness Removal Decoction of Notopterygium.
Notopterygium Root (Rhizoma seu Radix Notopterygii)
Property, Flavour: Warm, pungent and bitter.
Channel Tropism: Acting on urinary bladder
and kidney channels.
Effects: Inducing diaphoresis, dispersing
cold, expelling wind, removing dampness and relieving pain.
Indications:
Dosage: 3-10g, decocted in water for oral doses.
Precautions: Those with deficiency syndromes
of qi and blood, and for affection by exopathogens with dryness of the
throat should avoid this drug for its lifting and dispersing actions.
