Introduction
to Migraine
Generally, there are
six syndromes and
four symptoms cases in
which migraine can be classified into:
Migraine by syndromes means that we are to find out the actual causes that
give rise to migraine in terms of existence of wind, cold, heat,
phlegm, and as
pathological changes in liver system, or the lack of qi or blood and etc.
Whereas
migraine by symptoms means that how the pain affects us objectively, or how it
shows out as manifestations. Both methods are crucial in diagnosis of actual
syndrome before which a therapeutic principle can be deduced and thus the
formation of a prescription can be drawn upon.
There are also
a few discussions on the
'modern' understanding of the causes
of migraine in this section. However, if you are interested in
'old and odd'
ideas about what causes migraine, you may want to check out writings by
prominent TCM practitioners in the past about headache and migraine in the Resources
section.
